Wash and care

Before you go washing, separate your laundry into whites (no delicate), colors (no delicate) and delicate. Sorting your laundry helps to keep them look their best with repeated washing.

To help saving CO2 and water we recommend to only wash your clothes if really necessary. Besides, this will also make garments last longer. If your clothes are not heavily dirty, try to wash them at 30 degrees. Moreover, avoid underfilling the washing machine. When so, you have to use the washing machine more often. Every washing machine comes with an instruction where the size of the machine is registered. Look it up and adapt your dosage correctly.

Pay attention to the dosing instructions of the laundry detergent and if possible, use organic detergents. Save the packaging for recycling or refilling.

Furthermore, we recommend to not tumble dry your garments. All tumble dryers have an energy label. A+++ is the most energy-saving tumble dryer with 0,81 kWh per drying cycle and B the most energy-consuming tumble dryer with 2,64 kWh per drying cycle (Milieu Centraal, 2020). Therefore, if you want to tumble dry your clothes try looking for a washing machine with a A+++ label.

In short, to save water, energy, CO2 and money:

-Only wash your clothes when necessary

-Wash your clothes at low temperatures

-Avoid underfilling

-Use the dosing instructions

-Do not tumble dry

When you store your clothes at home make sure you see everything you own. If you use drawers place your clothes vertically. In this way you can see all of your clothes.
